Another Trip Around the Sun

A good friend of mine always congratulates me on surviving another trip around the Sun on my birthday.  It an interesting way to look at the past year, but accurate.

Staying true to my last lesson, I am trying not to look back.  Well, not too much.  If anything this is the time when everyone looks back to see what they accomplished this past year, to see if they made a difference.  Its also a time too look forward and guess at what life has in store for us.

I am happy to say that I am happy with my last year and everything I have done.  I would have liked to have done more but I did what I could.  I also like to think that I have made a difference in this world, or at least my little part of it.  From being apart of my children’s life and teaching them, to helping run (and now run) a Transgender Support group, to making new friends.  I really feel that I have added to the world.

The future is unknown. Yes, I have plans but even the best laid plans can be disrupted.  I’m looking forward to coming out at work this next year (Aug. look for that future post), changing all my official records and living my true life.  I’m looking forward to all the new people I will meet and all the new challenges.  I’m hoping to have a major surgery next year, as long as I get my appointment.  I’m looking forward to getting the program I run a work finally up to 100% (currently 60%-ish).

Of course there are things I wish I had done better and things that I am not looking forward to on this next trip, but why should those things drag me down?  Today I turn 41 and have so much more to find out about myself and the world around me.  I am ready and willing to see what this trip has to offer.  Stick with me as this should be a fun and interesting year.
